FAQ’s

HOW DOES THE PINPOINTE™ FOOT LASER WORK?
This patented laser is specially designed to safely heat and destroy the pathogens embedded in and under your nail causing the fungus infection (Onychomycosis).

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?
It usually takes about 30-40 minutes to complete a treatment if removal of unhealthy tissue is necessary. Otherwise a treatment can be completed in just a few minutes.

IS THIS LASER PAINFUL?
The gentle laser light beam has no effect on healthy tissue. There is no pain but some patients may experience temporary warmth in the nail during treatment. This treatment does not harm or affect your activity in any way.

DOES IT REALLY WORK?
The PinPointe™ laser is cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of nail fungus. In the latest clinical study 81% of all patients treated sustained a clear nail improvement at 12 months after a single treatment. After the one 30-minute treatment, the nail plate should grow out clear in 8–12 months if there is a healthy nail bed. This result is better than the results reported for the oral pill, Lamisil, which you take for three months with some risk of side effects.

IS THIS TREATMENT SAFE?
There are no age or health restrictions or limitations. In clinical studies there have been no adverse reactions, injuries, disabilities or known side effects. As you may know, the oral medications now used to treat toenails must be taken daily for months and carry with them some side effects that can affect the liver, kidneys, and skin. This laser does not. The PinPointe™ laser is safe and effective.

WILL I BE ABLE TO WALK AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Yes, you will be able to resume all your normal activities immediately after the treatment is done.

HOW QUICKLY IS IMPROVEMENT NOTICED?
At the time of the procedure, the toenail will not become instantly clear, it takes time to grow out. New healthy nail will be seen emerging from the cuticle area as your nails grow naturally. The average toenail replaces itself every 6–9 months. Within the first 3 months healthy new growth will be visible.

WILL THE FUNGUS GROW BACK?
In most cases, the fungus is eradicated following 3 treatments. We will recommend care techniques to reduce recurrence of the infection. There is a chance of reinfection because the fungus is present everywhere in the environment. Just like you practice good oral hygiene to keep your teeth and gums healthy, you will need to practice good foot hygiene to keep your toenails healthy.

DOES MY INSURANCE PAY FOR THIS?
Because this treatment is considered aesthetic, health insurance plans do not cover this treatment. We accept credit cards (VISA and Mastercard). We also offer incremental payment plans through Care Credit.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
There is a free consultation with the doctor to see if you are a candidate for the treatment. The pricing will be discussed at that time with the doctor depending on your specific condition. The treatment fee also includes any necessary nail preparation, post treatment counseling and a follow up visit to check your results. The best results are obtained when the laser treatment is applied to all of the toenails on both feet, even the ones that appear uninfected. This creates an environment free of nail fungus and reduces the chance of reinfection. If the infection is resistant or the nails have not responded with clear growth, the nails may need another laser treatment.

The Cost of PinPointe™ laser Treatment includes:

• The initial consultation for evaluation to see if the laser is an option for you
• Includes any necessary nail preparation
• The state of the art PinPointe™ laser Procedure to all 10 toes
• Post Op Care Package which includes….

  1. The 3 month follow up visit *
  2. The 6 month follow up visit *

        *additional laser treatments not included.

ARE THERE ANY POST-TREATMENT CARE REQUIREMENTS?
Yes. We recommend that you use Tinactin Antifungal (1%) cream and spray. Apply the cream twice-a-day around toe nails, and the spray should be applied to shoes if sweaty.
